Sunflower Room

The children are welcomed into the Sunflower Room from two and half years of age. The Sunflower room is bright, spacious , well equipped and run by a team of Montessori trained staff. The teachers will introduce a full range of Montessori activities suitable for your child’s development.

In the Sunflower Room children will have the freedom to explore the six areas of the Montessori curriculum. There is an additional Sunflower Room where your child will be able to engage in dramatic role play and creative activities that are incorporated in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The older Sunflowers will be taken on occasional walks, where they will explore nature and the environment.

There will be regular visits to Northwood Library, encouraging them to enjoy a wider range of books. Children will take home activities regularly to complete with their parents that will reflect on current topics and interests.

Every afternoon the children will be able to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Children and parents will have access to their learning journeys, so they can revisit their work and achievements.

The parents will be able to follow their child’s progress during half term consultations with their class teacher. Daily feedback will also be given upon collection. You will be invited to stay and take part in sessions, where you and your child will engage in their favourite activity.

In the Sunflower Room fruit, milk and water will be accessible for self service. Promoting independence in cutting, pouring, serving and freedom of choice.
