Harrow Rooms

We have created a warm and homely environment, with carefully selected equipment with each individual in mind. Your child will be assigned a key worker – who will form the link between you, the nursery and your child; using this system, we are able to ensure that all children receive the amount of personal attention and care they deserve.

  • Constant movement and exploration is how children learn and grow; seeing themselves in relation to their environment while developing coordination of the body and brain. The equipment selected will enable your child to refine their motor skills through a range of actions, such as sliding, bouncing, crawling, and walking!

Babies in this room are also exposed to well-planned activities and sensory resources, as they develop naturally through discovery and play. Activities like sand, water, messy play, and treasure baskets are accessible throughout the day.

As Maria Montessori believed that children need to explore objects made of natural and holistic materials.through their interaction with these materials, the children are:

Encouraging the use of their senses

    Developing Listening and Attention

Refining their coordination and motor skills

Developing the ability to make simple choices and express a preference

Children in the Daisy Room are given access to our safe and secure garden, with a range of activities that extend the indoor environment. These children are escorted to the garden at least once a day – come rain come shine.

We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given during the weaning process. Together with the staff, you will develop a weaning menu that works for your family.

  • Our Poppies classroom caters for children aged 18-24 months and benefits from a self-contained classroom and bathroom area.

The classroom boasts three bright and spacious areas that focus on refining the prime areas of development: Communication and Language;Physical Development; and, Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

The children in this classroom are given access to a wide range of resources that reflect the cycle of observation and planning. The children’s own interests and next steps are reflected in both the planned activities and the continuous provision.

  • The children are welcomed into the Tiger Lillies Room from two years old. This room is bright, spacious, well equipped and run by a team of Montessori trained staff. The teachers will introduce a full range of Montessori activities suitable for your child’s development.

In the Tiger Lillies Room children will have the freedom to explore the six areas of the Montessori curriculum. Additionally, your child will be able to engage in dramatic role play and creative activities that are incorporated in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The older are encouraged to explore nature and the environment with regular time in the garden.

We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given for more discerning eaters. Children are given more responsibility during mealtimes in preparation for their time in the pre-school.

  • The Dandelion Room caters to Preschool children, aged 3 and over. The purpose-built classroom boasts breezes and sunlight. With easy access to the garden, the children are able to benefit from the garden area and its activities.

The classroom planning includes a range of activities, extending from literacy and numeracy to language and cultural lessons. Each child is treated as a true individual, and the provisions reflect this.

The well-qualified staff set a scene of mutual respect, empathy and community. Through the use of the Montessori auto-didactic materials, we are able to deliver the EYFS curriculum in a creative and individualised way.

Kelly
Front of House

  • I've recently joined Wetherby House Montessori as Front of House, you'll find me in the front office. I deal with the day to day administration duties of the nursery. I've worked for over 20 years in an office environment.

I have three grown up children so I know how important it is to feel that you are leaving your children in a safe and warm environment, which it certainly is at Wetherby House. It's such a lovely place to work as I get the best of both worlds, being able to work whilst hearing all the chatter and laughing of the children makes every day so rewarding.

  • "I cannot thank the team at Wetherby House enough for the foundation they have given my two boys. I have seen them both flourish, excel in ways I did not think was possible and become independent young men.

The staff are exceptional. Their caring nature, attention to detail and their willingness to involve themselves and the family in every part of a child’s development is to applaud.”

Shivane, Mother of Aaryan and Yuvan

  • "I have had 2 kids go through Wetherby House Montessori. They are taught the best of manners, outstanding vocabulary and their depth of learning using music, play, drama etc is so rounded.

From the very first time we stepped into the Harrow nursery, it just felt right. Small things, the way it looked, how homely it was, all the staff were smiling, the attention to detail.”
