Kensal Rise Rooms
We have created a warm and homely environment, with carefully selected equipment with each individual in mind. Your child will be assigned a key worker – who will form the link between you, the nursery and your child; using this system, we are able to ensure that all children receive the amount of personal attention and care they deserve.
-
Constant movement and exploration is how children learn and grow; seeing themselves in relation to their environment while developing coordination of the body and brain. The equipment selected will enable your child to refine their motor skills through a range of actions, such as sliding, bouncing, crawling, and walking!
Babies in this room are also exposed to well-planned activities and sensory resources, as they develop naturally through discovery and play. Activities like sand, water, messy play, and treasure baskets are accessible throughout the day.
As Maria Montessori believed that children need to explore objects made of natural and holistic materials through their interaction with these materials, the children are:
Encouraging the use of their senses
Developing Listening and Attention
Refining their coordination and motor skills
Developing the ability to make simple choices and express a preference
Children in the Daisy Room are given access to our safe and secure garden, with a range of activities that extend the indoor environment. These children are escorted to the garden at least once a day – come rain come shine.
We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given during the weaning process. Together with the staff, you will develop a weaning menu that works for your family.

Our Poppies classroom caters for children aged 18-30 months and benefits from a self-contained classroom and bathroom area.
The classroom boasts three bright and spacious areas that focus on refining the prime areas of development: Communication and Language;Physical Development; and, Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
The children in this classroom are given access to a wide range of resources that reflect the cycle of observation and planning. The children’s own interests and next steps are reflected in both the planned activities and the continuous provision.

The Dandelion Room caters to Preschool children, aged 3 and over. The purpose-built classroom boasts breezes and sunlight. With easy access to the garden, the children are able to benefit from the garden area and its activities.
The classroom planning includes a range of activities, extending from literacy and numeracy to language and cultural lessons. Each child is treated as a true individual, and the provisions reflect this.
The well-qualified staff set a scene of mutual respect, empathy and community. Through the use of the Montessori auto-didactic materials, we are able to deliver the EYFS curriculum in a creative and individualised way.
We understand that diet has a major impact on your child; staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and support is given for more discerning eaters. Children are given more responsibility during mealtimes and will serve themselves food and help wash up after their meals.

Nursery Manager

I started my career in early childhood education over 22 years ago and I was introduced to the Montessori Approach in 2004 by my colleague. I was pregnant with my first son at the the time and it totally changed my life. All I wanted to do was to apply these concepts to my career and my parenting so my son could have a happy, healthy and successful future.
Fast forward to now and we have three busy nurseries in the Wetherby House Montessori Group and I’m still passionate about the Montessori approach. I think the childcare industry has come a long way and parents are wanting a more holistic approach to daycare (especially with technology advancements and screens!).
Now more than ever, it’s important for us to help our children cultivate a sense of curiosity, play and love for learning. If they fall in love with learning, we’ll know we’ve done good in the world!

Deputy Manager

I completed my study of Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies in the year 2020. Thereafter, an opportunity came from Wetherby House Montessori, where I was given the chance to work with children in their early years as I became part of the team, ‘a family’, rather – with a common goal of safeguarding, nurturing, and moulding them.
I started from the bottom of being a Nursery Practitioner to being the preschool room leader, and now the Nursery Deputy Manager.
Working in a Nursery that utilises the Montessori curriculum opened the door for me to explore the meaning behind this and discovered my passion for ensuring that young children will flourish to become independent and have the school-readiness before flying and exploring the world out therI learnt that working in Early Years means more than just nurturing them. But it is about getting to know each one of them as every child is unique – exploring and understanding the appropriate approach given to each one of them.
The most rewarding for being an educator in Wetherby is when parents drop their child off in the morning and share stories of how their child goes home w/ exciting stories as they share their discoveries at the Nursery before bedtime.

I joined Wetherby Kensal in 2022 as a nursery practitioner. I developed a passion for supporting the manager with admin and creating the prepared environment so I went for the FOH position. After graduating I never thought my first job would be as an Early Years Practitioner but my love and passion for working with children has grown and I have never felt as fulfilled in a role as I do working here.
